Accessibility
A site everyone can use.
We want wingwords.app to work for everyone, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader or large text.
What we aim for
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 at level AA. The site has not been audited by an independent expert, so we do not claim full conformance. What we have checked ourselves is listed below, and so is what we have not.
What has been checked
- ContrastEvery colour of text is measured against the background it sits on, by an automated test of the site's colours. Body text clears the AA ratio for normal text.
- KeyboardEvery link, button and form field can be reached with Tab, in reading order, and shows a clear orange outline when it has focus. A skip link jumps past the menu.
- Without motionIf your device asks for reduced motion, nothing on the site moves: every word and picture is simply in place. The same is true with JavaScript switched off.
- PicturesApp screenshots have text alternatives that say what the screen shows. Drawings that only decorate are hidden from screen readers.
- StructureEach page sets its language, has one main heading, and uses headings, lists and landmarks in order.
- FormsEvery field has a visible label, says what is wrong in words next to the field, and the first problem is announced and focused.
- Automated auditPages are run through Google Lighthouse's accessibility audit before they are published.
What has not been checked yet
- Screen-reader usersWe have not yet tested the site with people who rely on a screen reader every day. If you do, we would like to hear from you.
- The privacy policy in PolishThe privacy policy is published in English only for now.
Tell us about a problem
If something on the site does not work for you, write to us at the address at the foot of the page. Say which page and what happened. We answer within two weeks, and if we cannot fix it quickly we will send you the information another way.
